When whispers are all I have, they become prayers. I consider how the day winds down. There is so much to carry throughout the day, but I do not wish I carry those burdens in my dreams. I speak to God in prayer. Tonight I offer a prayer for the compline hour.
Magnificent God whose eyes never
Never rest in slumber.
I thank you for watching
Over my life today.
You, oh Lord, have kept me
In perfect peace.
From the rising of the sun to its setting
Your eyes are always on me.
God, you have been near to me.
Watch over my soul
As I lay me down to sleep.
Restore me again
That I might arise refreshed.
Strengthen me that I might do those
Good works you have called me to.
Gracious Lord, I commend
My body, mind, and soul to you.
For I know, You are Faithful.
You are always with me.
