Fear Not Beloved

It’s a real talk-real truth moment.  Sometimes life is overwhelmingly wrought with the ashes of our failure.  It’s like a smear campaign strategically designed to ruin and discount our faith. Tides rise and crash our dreams upon the jagged rocks of life. Sunshine burns away the hope once glimmering in our soul. Clouds become our refuge and hideaway. This is life. Sometimes, it’s just hard.

Even the beloved don’t live perfect lives. Even the beloved make mistakes. Even the beloved need grace. Even the beloved are still loved despite their failings. You are the beloved. We are the beloved. I am the beloved. Tonight, I’m making this personal. I make mistakes. I am not perfect. I don’t presume perfection. I don’t have all my mess together. The good news? It’s okay. So tonight I offer a prayer, words I want to keep me grounded.

But first, I rest these words upon my soul.

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand,
Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’
“Fear not, you worm Jacob,
You men of Israel!
I will help you,” says the Lord
And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

Isaiah 41:13-14

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.”
Isaiah 43:1

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 23

my prayer for the compline hour

Giver of Life, I come to you.
I am weary and downcast
Bid my soul to rest in
Your tender care.
Soul be still in His presence.
Heart be restored.

Spirit of Peace come.
Shelter me in the
Shadow of His wing.

Holy Father, abide with me.
Evening has come, darkness passes.
Lord, come abide with me.
Make sweet my sleep.
Make joy my song.
Make rest my healing.

God, Giver of Life,
I come to You.
You are my help.
Bid my soul to rest in
Your tender care.

    That is my all-time Fernando favorite. And your prayer is beautiful, timely, healing, and for sure inspired. I love it.
