Harsh, I know. These might seem like hard words – a slap in the face, but really I’m preaching to myself here today. Maybe you’ll learn a bit from my experience. I am not waiting for you, and you are certainly not waiting for me. We are all moving toward our something or a nothing. In every sort of way we are making choices whether consciously or unconsciously.I have been pondering my own personal growth and development for a while. I think I got the personal piece down pat. That’s great! The profession piece? Well, that is an area I want to expand and grow in.
I think sometimes we can get so caught up in the day to day of our professional work that we forget to grow, reflect, share, and connect. Perhaps we’re on automatic pilot and not even paying attention to the impact we’ve had or that has been had on us. Today I stop to pause and reflect on these things, and find I want to share with you all the ways I’m growing. I want to share with you all the ways I learn and grow in life, work, faith, and play.
I’d be remiss if I tried to divorce my life from my career and my career from my life, my why. I’m here on this lovely, swirling ball of earth to empower, encourage, and equip. It’s what I was made to do and I cannot NOT do this work. Much of that I do in this writing space, in person, on Facebook groups, on Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter. If you’ve seen me around or heard me, then maybe you’ve experienced my why. That particular why is born from my faith, and I cannot separate it from who I am or what I do. My faith encourages and inspires me to do good things. I want to do those good things in my profession too.
No one is waiting for me to share this learning. Truth is: I’ve been waiting for me. Well, let’s be really real here. I’ve been ignoring me. Uggghhh. That is a pain point I don’t want to admit on these internets, but there it is in all its brutiful [beautiful+brute] glory. Maybe you can relate. So what am I going to do? I’m going to explore, reflect, and write. Perhaps it will be a hot mess, and that’s okay. What matters is the showing up, the writing through the resistance, and refining my why. All this to say you’ll see me share all manner of stories, learning points really, and things I hope you will find practical for your own lives to no matter where you’re at. This is the whole of life for me: I am always learning. I don’t ever want to stop learning. Now is the time to practice, apply, and refine.
I want to always be a happy learner curating content and sharing what’s good. So maybe you’ll follow along on this journey. After all, we are all still learning, growing, and becoming more of who we’re meant to be. Learn on, friends. Learn on!
