Intentional Living

Planned. Proposed. Deliberate. With thought. Willful. Intended. These are all mighty fine, powerful words to describe what it means to be intentional. I think it’s the kind of word that has the power to shape destiny, refine purpose, and whisper identity. Today I want to focus on shaping destiny with intention.

Of course we in the middle of January and maybe our focus has been to turn toward change and impact. We might have looked back at 2017 as well as all the years that preceded it, and we filtered it down to our goals, dreams, and desires. Did we accomplish what we set out to do? Are we close are way off the mark? Were there gains, hits, or completed misses? Did I shape or distort my destiny? Looking back reveals so much. Reviewing, refining, and resetting my intention help me shape my destiny.

Now we look at 2018 and compare it with where we want to go. Perhaps we say to ourselves, “Is this my destiny? Is this really the direction I want to go in?” And if it’s not, our intentionality for living is challenged. It is not an indictment. But rather it is an invitation to look again. Consider the whole of your life. When I think of January I think of it as the month of re-. We re- everything. We re-think, re-question, re-gain, restore, re-do, re-plan, re-deem, re-dream. Because to re- is to do again. If we are to live out our true destiny, it only makes sense that we look again so we can better shape our steps. This highlights the need to live with a more focused and pointed intentionality.

Well, I don’t want this to be a how to post. I want it to be the kind of post where you leave feeling like you can do this. You can live your purpose and destiny. So I’ll ask you four think about it questions.

  1. What do you truly want in life?
  2. What are you here on earth to do?
  3. What do you need to start doing today on a daily basis to make that purpose thing happen?
  4. What can you do today yo being moving in the direction of your dreams, hopes, and desires?

Choose you. Choose yourself. Choose your heart. Choose that thing that refuses to let your Soul go that you know you were designed and meant to be and do here on earth. Be intentional about living your best life.

Tell me your stories. I’d love to hear them. How are you taking steps to live and intentional life?

Linking up with Kate Motaung and the Five Minute Friday crew. The prompt was intentional.

Thank you – this is a very apt post for me as I finished a year’s series of blog posts for 2017 but felt unclear about what to do next with it. Your questions have reminded me of my calling to be a writer and of a daily habit I have recently started that may be the answer to my dilemma.
I’d also like to say how much I love the clarity of your writing. God bless.
