Love God with your whole heart.
Love your neighbor as yourself. Love with all of you –all that is within you, love. This is the greatest commandment and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Selfless, giving, kind, and strong is the thread of love woven in our hearts through Christ. Yet, it is also love that uproots us from actions contrary to who we are called to be.
Love is choosing everyday. It is an active volition of our will. To show up, see with different eyes, and love without condition is perhaps the greatest thing we can do to show our commitment to God and to one another. I certainly don’t always get this right. I fail at it a lot, but for grace, I keep showing up. In the showing up I find my old ways of being challenged. I cannot live as I have done before because those ways are incongruent to the nature of God being forged in me.
It’s hard, ya’ll, but I know it’s worth it. I hear God’s voice beckoning me to quicker forgiveness, letting go of offenses, and moving toward people rather than away from them to bridge divides and heal hurts. I could not do this on my own. It is the love of God that has and continues to compel me to see differently and hold space for others, and it is a gift.
Love with all your heart is an inclusive part our wholeness, and maybe as we practice that love, we become vessels of healing and restoration here upon the earth. We become as God is here on earth in ways that bring about the fullness of hope and the expression of His presence. What Christ brought to us the way back to true love.
It is the way we’re truly meant to love, and I want more of that in my life.
