Somedays you need a break away from the structure of a dream. You take a deep breath to reacquaint yourself with what really matters. You look around your life and find that perhaps you’re not exactly where you thought you’d be, but you’re not stuck – that’s the truth. How is that even possible? Because something within us pushes us to overcome.
I sometimes wonder that if the the thing we really need to overcome are the self limiting beliefs and misrepresentations of our feelings. Do we hide so we can’t be seen? Do we run away just when we’re on the brink of goodness and success because it looks so different than anything we ever could have imagined.? Just me heh? Well, I’m talking about it now. The only way out is through. It’s time to rise to the challenge and live into the fullness of who we’re called to be.
It seems to me we can only run and circumvent our own lives for so long before we cease to be able to overcome. Roadblocks get in the way, and they are of our own making. TOday, I’m choosing to overcome by leaning in. Asking hard questions. Writing the not so pretty answers. And facing the brutiful truth – I was made for more, and I have not allowed myself to fully live into that more. Why?
I’m sure there are myriad reasons, but one I’ll share here. A quiet fear that I will fail at this “new” thing even though I’ve been working at it for a while – steady, weekly, and often unseen. Really there is no reason for me to fear or mistrust myself or the process. I want to overcome. Come over this hill, this valley, this mountain of resolve that is misplaced it self.
So I speak to my heart and soul and say, “yes, we can do this, and there’s no reason to fear.” I am surround by men and women who believe in the gifts I have to offer. I think you have those people too. Let’s look upon ourselves with more grace and kindness. Let’s rise up strong in our overcoming.
It’s Five Minute Friday, and the prompt is “overcome.” I’m linking up with Kate Motaung and the #fmfparty family.
