The Art of Growing You

You are worth the investment.  You are worthy of time well spent. You are worth having good things and creative blessing. This is the art of how you grow yourself: you believe in your value you, what you have to offer, and the fact that you are loved and cherished beyond measure. You grow your art by growing your self – your whole, imperfect self. This is not a how to post but rather a go-be-all-you post. It’s my tiny, little love letter to you.

I want you to know that the only thing keeping you from being all you has nothing to do with anyone else. It has everything to do with you allowing you to be ALL you. Get out of your own way. Stop making flimsy excuses, and rise up. Remember you have permission to be well, and free, and whole. Give yourself the grace you need to explore who you’re meant to be in this glorious life. You have so much more to offer than you could have ever dreamed or imagined, but how will you know it if you don’t grow it?

Perhaps I am preaching to myself, and that’s okay. Maybe that’s where we all begin anyway – speaking over ourselves with life giving words of affirmation, hope, and purpose. I wonder how much more power we’d walk in if we only opened our eyes to see just how fearfully and wonderfully we are made. We are all powerful people. I’m not talking about the kind of power the lords it over people, downplays, criticizes, or ostracizes others. I am talking about the creative genius God planted in you at the moment of your conception.

The gifts of God, every single one of them, are irrevocable. It’s your turn to lean in, press in, dive deeper, and take a look at your heart. He’s already given you all you need for life and living. It’s true. Meditate on that and grow yourself. Empower, encourage, and equip yourself. The more you do, the more you’ll be walking in your purpose and identity. The more you’ll be strengthened in your resolve to pursue Him and all He has for you. The art of growing yourself is a lifetime creative practice.

Will there be failures? Yes. Will their be success? Yes. Will it always go your way? Not likely. Should you continue on in faith? Yes! Don’t give up. Grow your courage. Grow your hope. Grow your gifts. There is so much practical magnificence bubbling like a brook within your soul. Tend your heart, and be gently kind to yourself in your endeavors. I believe that doing so empowers us to give grace and kindness to everyone we meet in ways that challenge and encourage them to be their better selves.

Friends, our creative practices are not by accident. Every time we show up to that canvas, that blank page, that empty whatever-it-is, we are willfully choose to engage the beauty of the unknown treasures waiting to be discovered. That’s not woo, it’s simply the truth of what happens when you Do the work. You’re worth it. I’m worth it. We’re all worth it, so let’s dive deep into the beautiful messiness of wholly being ourselves. It’s going to be worth it.

Tell me your experiences. I’m always looking for techniques to try in my own practice.

In the month of October, I’m participating in the #Write31Days challenge. I’m focusing creative practice in the ordinary, everyday mundane. Each day (or whenever I write) for the series I will post the link on my page for my #31DaysOfCreativePractice. Come along and read.

I needed this today. Everything you said is true. Psalm 139:14 says we are fearfully and wonderful made. Blessings Diana
