When Rest Brings Momentum

life full mdavidsonLife is full of dichotomy.  Contrasts abound between dreaming big and actually bringing the dream to reality.  It doesn’t happen by wishful thinking.  You have to work, maybe sweat, be tenacious, and overcome adversity.  Maybe that’s why some of us fail at those new year resolutions.  These are things I’ve been pondering since the year has turned from one to another.  I am choosing rest this year, but how does rest play into momentum?

We can launch creative energy, impulse, purpose, and passion in community.  Partnering with trusted creatives can be powerful, and it can double your productivity or creative flow.  I’ve found this to be true for me especially throughout 2014.  My friend and creative sister has helped me plant many seeds, focus on doing what was truly me, and kept me honest.

Now it’s time to water the dream-seeds, grown them, prune them, and watch the wild life of them take deeper root.  Will every single dream work?  Probably not, but that doesn’t mean giving up.  It doesn’t mean it isn’t worth putting for the effort – to work the dream.  I am finding as I rest in my calling, I have more energy to do what must be done.

What do you want to be able to say at the end of your life?  What regrets do you not want to have?  Whatever it is you would deeply regret not doing, that is probably the thing you should do.  Whatever you choose you don’t have to do the work all alone.  You can work your dream.  How?

Life is far too short to be waiting in the wings doing nothing.  Life is too short to keep pretending everyone will make it but you. (Trash the lies now!) Life is too short to wait for someone else to choose you.  You must choose yourself.  No one else can execute the dreams and passions flowing from your creative soul.  These belong to you and were birthed in only you.  There is a unique calling on your life that will not look like anything anyone else is doing or has done.  And that is okay.

Rest in the fact that you are fearfully and wonderfully made!  Rest in the fact that you were created for good works.  Rest in who you were created to be.  Let truth be your freedom.  Allow it to propel you into movement.  I can do this.  We can do this.  YOU can do this.
